Mr. Pibb + Red Vines = Crazy Delicious

TV

0_blog_entry312_1In my personal opinion SNL hasn’t been consistently really funny in years. Im from the oldskool grunge days of the early 90’s so I will always be a fan of Chris Farely, Mike Meyers, Phil Hartman, Dana Carvey, and Adam Sandler. Last Saturday night I was in for a big surprise when SNL aired a skit in the form of a music video called “Lazy Sunday”. It was some sily off the wall humorous hip hop song about eating cupcakes and going to watch the new movie “Chronicle’s of Narnia”. You really have to watch it to understand how this could be that amusing. I nearly died laughing at these lyrics when I first saw it. Fortunately Lauren had it on her ReplayTV so I got to watch it again the next day on-demand. I scoured the web Monday until i found a flash video version of it on YouTube’s website. The video was already a cult classic in the blogosphere and was getting rave reviews all around. Good to see I wasn’t the only fan. Of course there are always those people who take the obsession to far like these T-Shirts.

0_blog_entry312_2I have not seen this happen since Will Ferrel did the “More Cowbell” sketch which also quickly became a cult classic. If this kid Andy Sandberg keeps coming up with stuff this funny he could have a chance at rising to fame in Adam Sandler’s footsteps. Evidently Andy has done many other silly videos with a group of his friends outside SNL. The site is The Lonely Island. I have not had a chance to watch any of their stuff on there yet but I plan to check it out real soon. I am finally on Christmas break afterall.
