Terrifying Tech Tales

A couple weeks ago I received an email from a friend of mine catching up on the latest happenings as well as explaining to me his latest tech frustrations. I can relate all too well to what he describes. Fortunately for me, however, I am usually on the clock when dealing with these kind of problems and am getting paid to solve them. It is much worse when it eats up your personal time. Anyhow he gave me permission to put his email on my site and let his message be heard.

I finally got my beast of a pc put together.  Man it was a pain in the ass.  I’m ready to jump on the apple wagon to.  Think I’ll save up and get one later next year.  Yes that might be a ways off but at least I’m planning.  So far this year I’ve had to reinstall windows on my laptop and call the help line 5 times just to get the cd drive to work.  Ended up having to go into the registry and edit something.  Not what I would call user friendly.  Then I had to add something to the registry on this new one, due to the fact I cant download sp for xp.  Still have the version we all had.  Ended up finding how to fix it without the patch on the chinese windows site.  Due to the fact it was no longer on the us site.  All becasue those genuis engineers at microsoft didn’t think anyone would have a hd greater than 137gb.  Who the hell are these guys?  I think its all a scam to keep you buying upgrades to their strategically crappy designed software.
