Spring Weekend

After having such a long, stressful week last week it was nice to relax on the weekend. The weather wasn’t as cooperative as I would have liked but I mad the best of it. Now its 80 degrees this week which is more to my liking. Anyhow Saturday Lauren and I set out in search of something to do. The two options she came up with were The International Festival and ECU’s Purple and Gold Pigskin Pigout Party. Having had our fair share of BBQ over the past week or so we found ourselves in the Town Commons Park amongst a few hundred other people. There were cultures there from all around the world with tents setup selling crafts and authentic cuisine. I have never strayed far from Americana when it comes to food so this was certainly something new to me. Lauren felt a little more at home from here worldly travels. We ended up settling on Indian food for lunch. Rice, beans, chicken smothered in orange curry sauce and served with a side of pita bread. It wasn’t too bad.
After lunch at the festival we made our way to the stadium later that afternoon. We decided to watch the scrimmage football game that started at 3:00. Although it was a windy semi-cool day outside the stadium and crowd shielded us from the wind and it got hot with the sun beating down on the bleachers. Nobody got sunburned fortunately. It did seem somewhat odd watching football in April. Especially while you received announcements of baseball scores periodically throughout the game. There wasn’t much on the line since it is a scrimmage and its just the Pirates vs the Pirates but its still nice to watch real football (not that arena football junk on NBC and ESPN Ocho!) All in all it was a good way to spend a Saturday.
Sunday I was completely non-productive. Just as I had planned to be. I relaxed in front of the Tivo and Mac for hours upon hours on end. I also ordered that Logitech racing wheel for my Gran Turismo 4 game as a treat to myself for working all that overtime. I figure it won’t hurt to spend a small percentage of that extra pay on a gift to myself…Right?
