Gran Turismo 4

After waiting for what seemed like forever Sony finally released Gran Turismo 4 on the PS2 and I just picked up my copy last night. I loved GT3 when it came out in 2001. I played it steadily for 6 months or so and still had fun picking it up to play a few quick races here or there over the last couple years. I did so much racing that I literally logged over 5,000 virtual miles while playing it. Now the stakes have been raised even higher with the new GT4. The game is HUGE! It features over 700 cars from 80 manufacturers around the world. From Ford’s Model-T to the brand new 2005 Mustang GT and everything in between. There are also 50 tracks to choose from including real world speedways like Fuji Speedway, Suzuka, and Laguna Seca. Metropolitan based tracks like Hong Kong, Seoul, and the Big Apple. Offroad racing returns in a very nice Rally racing series including snow and rain courses. The graphics have been greatly enhanced since the last game and take full advantage of HDTVs. There is no doubt that GT4 is currently the best looking game on the PS2 ever. If you love racing games or even if you don’t but you just love cars or driving this is a must have game. If you don’t have a PS2 shame on you… borrow your friends and rent the game or buy a cheap one or eBay or something. You won’t be disappointed. This is the most realistic driving experience you will get outside the real world. Especially if you factor in the addition of a racing steering wheel to enhance the experience beyond the standard PS2 controller.
